Week 1: August 26th - August 30th
Monday August 26th and Tuesday August 27th: This day will include the following: a tour of the room, introduction to your teacher, welcome letter/packet, ice breaker activities, laptop procedures/assignments/contracts, and getting to know your class website. In addition, general 8th Grade procedures will be discussed, as well as additional assignments for lockers, locks, etc.
Wednesday - Friday August 28th - 30th: These days will include more team building activities, setting up our journals and making steps for success in the year ahead! |

Week 2: September 2nd - September 6th
Monday September 2nd: Labor Day Off
Tuesday September 3rd: Students will be provided an introduction to the Hydrosphere, completing self-guided notes upon the whole-group inquiry activity. Wednesday September 4th: Students will begin rotations on Water Properties. This will occur throughout the remainder of the week as we look at cohesion, adhesion, capillary action and specific heat. Week 3: September 9th - 13th
Monday September 9th: Students will complete the Pre-Assessment Benchmark.
Tuesday September 10th: Students will finish rotations on Water Properties. Wednesday September 11th: Students will complete the specific heat lab, practicing double line graphs and understanding the relationship of heating land vs. water. Thursday September 12th: Students will complete the specific heat lab, and begin reviewing for the vocabulary Quiz on Friday, September 13th. Friday September 13th: Students will take a vocabulary Quiz on Water Properties, and when complete, graph their mastery. Upon completion, will begin the Hydrosphere Introduction WebQuest. |

Week 4: September 16th - 20th
Monday September 16th: Using the infographics provided on the right, students will complete the given Hydrosphere Infographic handout which looks deeper into the percentages/characteristics of water on Planet Earth.
Tuesday September 17th: Students will complete the given surface water skeleton handout in class while the teacher presents the surface water notes provided. Wednesday September 18th: Kahoot Review. Thursday September 19th: Students will begin the Groundwater Webquest, deepening their understanding of aquifers, wells, and the impact of groundwater on our freshwater sources. Friday September 20th: Students will use the USGS website at the top of the page to uncover groundwater and its implications on our daily life. Using the link, they will click on the box titled "Learn More" on the left hand side of the website to respond to the given questions provided. |
